Emergency Underpinning in San Francisco

Last month (3-11) we received a call from a civil engineer who was called to the site of a residential slide on 20th St. in San Francisco.  The house had been red tagged and the owners had to move out.  The engineer called for "soil nails" and underpinning the most precarious part of the structure with push pier pipe piles.

Part of the foundation had been replaced.  The engineer didn't want to excavate in this area so we altered the method of mounting or attaching the bracket to accommodate his wishes.

The next challenge was to mount and drive a pile on the original brick foundation.  This was accomplished by using a very heavy piece of angle iron, grouted into position.

All went well, the engineer, building department, and owners were happy with the job which wound up costing less than originally estimated.  The building dept. allowed them to move back in as soon as the push pier job was finished.  The job lasted 3 days!
